The Officers' Exchange
Question from Kansas: We could really use some advice on how to go about changing the environment we work in. Our officers are being left on isolated posts without radios, they are being subjected to "vulnerability tests" and generally ignored or mistreated while the inmates are allowed virtual free run of the facility.
Question from Minnesota: I have now worked in the jail over a year. I have my BS in Animal Science from UWRF. I would like to know what I need to take to become licensed? I would like to know whom I must contact? Thank you for your time.
Question from Maryland: Looking for staffing requirment and inmate housing ratios for local institutions?

Our staffing here is five, and we are currently down to two (counting me, in a temp position). It makes for a lot of work, but it’s good for me career-wise. We have 3 open positions and I am applying for all of them.

Question from Minnesota: Positions where officers work don't have any inmate contact.
Some supervisors at certain facilities require those officers to come into an inmate contact work post once a pay period (26 times a year). MCF-LL currently practices this procedure, how many other facilities practice this procedure?
